In 1949 the shooting of Roberto Rossellini's film Stromboli, land of God's began, starring Ingrid Bergman.
During the months of the shooting, among ups and downs and numerous headaches, there was a special and unique atmosphere in Stromboli.
All the islanders were involved in the project and were utmost cordial with the crew, lavishing generously to enable the making of the film, confirming the traditional hospitality recounted in the memories of the travelers of centuries ago.

It is on this occasion that Mariannina and Domenico Russo provide their home and their hospitality, creating the very first nucleus of what in later years will become La Sirenetta.
First a sorbetteria, then an inn and finally a first class hotel, where the subsequent spaces were designed and manufactured in compliance with the architectural tradition of the Aeolian Islands.
